Black history, rodent thieves and a struggling folk singer.
This Thursday, Feb. 6, we kick of our Black History double feature with back to back Thursday films. Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom recounts the fight to change South Africa on Feb. 6 and Chiwetel Ejiofor portrays the incredible real life odyssey of Solomon Northorp in 12 Years a Slave Feb. 13.
And with our breath stolen by the sizzling screen presence of both Chiwetel Ejiofor and Idris Elba we turn to some other, furrier thieves, in The Nut Job, running Fri-Mon. Will Arnett, Job from Arrested Development, voices Surly, a squirrel mastermind of a nut heist. Splitting the weekend and with the help of the Coen brothers, we get Inside Llewyn Davis, for a week of this young folk singer’s life as he navigates the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961.
A little something for everyone this week because you are all my Valentines.
