Thanks everybody for making the Nelson Hustle such a great success. It was a great weekend finished off with the biggest living room broadcast of the Oscar ceremonies.
Well, here we are in the new week with the Oscars all doled out and what do you know we had the best pic and best foreign pic all ready to screen post awards all along. How do we do it? Don’t miss best picture winner 12 Years a Slave tonight, Mar. 4 and the Italian Great Beauty this Thursday, Mar. 6.
And with the war for the awards behind us, wartime life lies ahead. Opening on Mar. 7, George Clooney’s The Monuments Men (rated PG) based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men is an action drama focusing on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazis. The all-star cast alone makes this a must see: George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville, and Cate Blanchett.
Splitting the weekend we enter into another true story from a war zone. Lone Survivor (rated 14A), starring Mark Wahlberg tells the story of Marcus Luttrell and his team set out on a mission to capture or kill notorious Taliban leader Ahmad Shah, in late June 2005.
Taking a break from the battle, be sure to immerse yourself in the beautiful tunes of Juno award-winning song writer and banjo player Old Man Luedecke w/ Jordan Lane on Wednesday Mar. 12.
And to finish the week, we return to WWII for our Thursday night film to find young Liesel stealing books and sharing them with others in The Book Thief (rated PG). Under the stairs in her home, a Jewish refugee is being sheltered by her adoptive parents.
Roger, Wilco, Over and out.
