This week the Civic journeys through the wilds of Alaska to those of the Canadian trailer park. A Member Monday and an encore of a pair from Wes Anderson and the Cannes Jury Prize winner, Like Father, Like Son, where a switched cub, I mean child , tests the bounds of paternal love.
The Civic and Eco Society invites you to consider the effects of a resort on Jumbo Glacier while witnessing a year in the life of a Grizzly bear family as two impressionable young cubs are taught life’s most important lessons in Northern Alaska in Disney Nature’s Bears (rated G).
And you thought that was wild, well let’s wait and see what antics the Canadian cult heroes Bubbles, Ricky and Julien get up to in Trailer Park Boys: Don’t Legalize It (rated 18A).
Following the amazing turnouts for Wes Anderson’s latest we decided to put out to vote our May 12th Member Monday from the pool of Anderson’s work. Bottle Rocket (rated 14A), The directorial debut of Wes Anderson from way back in ’96 focuses on a trio of friends and their elaborate plan to pull off a simple robbery and go on the run. This gem gets the big screen treatment with a newly mastered theatrical DCP. You have to be a member to see it, and it is strongly recommended that you come as a Wes Anderson character. So get a membership and costume together asap. Why not show an encore of the his latest Grand Budapest Hotel (14A) back to back with his first film? O.K. come by the cinema on Tues. May 13 at 9pm.
Our Thursday offering from acclaimed Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda, is the winner of the Jury Prize at Cannes. When his biological son was switched with another child after birth, Ryota Nonomiya must make a life-changing decision and choose his true son or the boy he raised as his own in Like Father, Like Son (rated G)
