Local celebrity, undergarments and a trek through the jungle.
Well that certainly puts an image in your mind; now let’s see if we can deconstruct that for you a bit. The Nelson celeb in question is none other than Silicon Valley star, Thomas Middleditch. The undergarments are certainly not found in a Victoria Secret catalogue, but are the pair of tighty whiteys worn by Captain Underpants (G). The trek through the jungle, although not uncommon for our Nelson backpacker set, is presented here as the true story of Percy Fawcett’s early 20th century hunt for the Lost City of Z (14A) deep in the Amazon.
As our long awaited Member Monday film still fails to materialize from a lack of open Mondays, we have finally cracked and decided to play it this coming Wednesday. Members come free and those not already, what are you waiting for? Get that membership and turn around to redeem your first free film to pay respect to the late Sir Roger Moore, the perfect Bond for his era (mid-70’s to mid-80’s). The Spy Who Loved Me ’77, now 40-years old, is the perfect send off to a great actor as well as a perfect homage to The Civic’s rebirth with it’s first film in the closed down venue. Our Skyfall Bond party was an epic community event early 2013 that still fuels me in this endless mission to keep our local theatre thriving!
