Let’s Show Canada that This Place Matters!

Here in the Kootenays, the crisp October wind is dancing with autumn leaves – and along with it comes more exciting news for The Civic Theatre!

The Nelson Civic Theatre is raising funds and competing to win the top prize in this year’s nationwide This Place Matters campaign. The Civic is among nine Canadian registered non-profits competing for funds to restore treasured community heritage sites.  The organization with the greatest number of public votes on before November 15, 2016 is awarded $40,000 towards their project.

Individuals may vote, once per day, by visiting our campaign page. Each dollar raised also counts as a vote, so please consider showing your support with a donation. This means that making a $50 donation would count as if you have voted for The Civic – for fifty days in a row!

Have you voted for The Civic today? Upload a photo of yourself on your own Facebook or Instagram timeline or comment on twitter using the hashtag #IvotedforTheCivic, and you will be automatically entered to win a weekly prize draw for a 10-punch card movie pass to the theatre (an estimated $100 value!). Until the end of the This Place Matters competition, entries will be accepted until Sunday at 12 pm (PST) of each week, with the winner being announced on Facebook on Monday morning.

Let’s get social! We’re already friends on Facebook, but did you know you can also now connect with The Civic on Twitter, follow us on Instagram, and join our network on LinkedIn? Come be a part of our conversation, and help us show the world that this place matters!
