Brave Story (rated PG) at 6 pm. When eleven-year-old Wataru is told he can change his destiny by entering a magic gateway into another world, he jumps at the chance. But on his quest to find the Tower of Fortune and be granted any wish, he must conjure up all his bravery to battle a world of demons, his own friends and ultimately himself.
Always – Sunset on Third Street (rated PG) at 8:05. As Japan prepares to host the 1964 Olympics, drama, humour, and conflict unfold as two Tokyo working-class households face a rapidly changing modern Japan and their own personal life struggles. The popularity of temperamental serial writer Chagawa is threatened by a new accomplished rival writer and he faces pressure from his publisher while he tries to push his adolescent son toward university; meanwhile, Mitsuko, the migrant country-girl who became a mechanic at the neighbouring Suzuki auto repair shop puts on the make-up each morning and hangs out on the corner with the hope of ‘accidentally’ bumping into a certain young doctor.
