3 Questions with Nathan Affolter: Food Flix

Nathan Affolter is an award-winning animator and filmmaker whose films have played world-wide, including at the Cannes International Film Festival. His animated shorts – Food Flix, will be screening Sunday at #Kinesis2017!

What was your most memorable moment during filming/production?

Food Flix: Shooting a day’s worth of animation on Cuckold Orange, only to realize the focus was off forcing us to shoot it all again.

Why did you/what inspired you to make these pieces?

Food Flix: The concept art, combining a real apple with the hand-drawn style

Counter Act: Learning about the sit-in movement from the documentary film “Soundtrack for a Revolution”, at the Santa Cruz film festival.  

Do you have any advice that you would want to pass on to young filmmakers in the Kootenays?

Collaborate with like-minded individuals. Having support and bouncing ideas off those individuals pushes your work to higher levels of quality.
